Grade 4 (Hourly) Position Description: The University of Louisville Proteomics Technology Center is actively seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Research Technician I position. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the forefront of scientific discovery by developing innovative methods in single-cell proteomics and applying them to translational research within and outside of the University in a collaborative fashion. The Center offers access to state-of-the-art mass spectrometry instrumentation, including an Orbitrap Exploris 480, Orbitrap QE-HF and Waters Synapt G2-Si mass spectrometers. The lab is also equipped with a CELLENION cellenONE X1 single-cell isolation and sample preparation platform, and various automation systems. The preferred candidate will possess experience in the one or more of the following areas: flow cytometry and cell sorting, mass spectrometry based proteomic methods, cell biology, proteomics sample preparation and the desire to learn new and exciting laboratory methods as the Center continues to expand approaches and capacity. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Perform key duties including operation and maintenance of the cellenONE X1 single cell workstation, advanced training sessions of external users on single cell sorting instrumentation, and implementation of the scProteomics workflow. Develop, optimize and apply methods for single-cell proteomics for non-adherent and adherent cells from clinical and preclinical samples. Conduct proteomics sample preparation and mass spectrometry experiments as directed by supervisor(s). Perform routine data analysis searches and disseminate results with Center leadership and colleagues. Preferred Qualifications BS in a relevant field (e.g., biochemistry, biology, chemistry, molecular biology, or a closely related discipline). Proven hands-on experience in one area of either; mass spectrometry, cell biology, or proteomics. Bioinformatics, large dataset handling or general computer informatics expertise is a plus. Experienced in conducting research in a wet lab setting, keeping and maintaining laboratory notebooks, records and ordering appropriate supplies from vendors. Ability to maintain reagents and chemicals for routine core operation, prepare solutions and perform standard laboratory calculations. Ability to interact with technical experts for troubleshooting via teleconference, phone and email. General laboratory competency including communication skills, the ability to report results, troubleshooting and technical issues to laboratory staff, colleagues and Center Faculty informally and formally via weekly meetings. Comfortable with various software platforms. Willingness to learn new concepts and grow within a dynamic research environment. Target Compensation Maximum: $31.38 Target Compensation Minimum: $20.92 Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
