Job TitleStudent Technician Agency Texas A&M Agrilife Research Department Institute for Advancing Health through Agriculture-Project Management Proposed Minimum Salary$7.25 hourly Job LocationCollege Station, Texas Job TypeStudent Worker Job Description Job Description Summary The student technician provides hands-on assistance in assisting researchers on multidisciplinary projects located at Texas A&M Institute for Preclinical Studies. Essential Duties/Tasks Performs daily animal care and husbandry duties for research animals including feeding, watering, animal handling/transport, animal health checks, providing enrichment and environmental monitoring. Assures animals are appropriately maintained and cared for in accordance with standard operating procedures and supervisors instructions. Requires the ability to work sometimes under challenging conditions (high humidity/temperature). Assists with animal surgery and tissue collection days with minor tasks. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Education and Experience: Current undergraduate or graduate student at Texas A&M University. Major in Biology, Animal Science, Nutrition, Biomedical Sciences, Agriculture, or a related field preferred. Previous animal experience is a plus but not required training will be provided. Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to follow instructions, work with minimal instruction, and manage time effectively. Must be detail-oriented, dependable, and willing to perform both technical and routine tasks. Stand for extended periods during work. Other Requirements: Requires working evening, night and weekend hours. Ability to lift or move light, moderate, and heavy objects. All positions are security-sensitive.
