Estimated Appointment End Date (Continuous if Blank) Full/Part-Time Full time Job Type Regular Compensation Job Description Starting Salary Range: $45000.00 Benefits: This is a full-time state position that provides a percentage of matching contributions to employees retirement plans, 11 holidays, and a minimum of 15 days of annual and sick leave per year. The state also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a benefit allowance to offset the cost of insurance premiums for employees and their eligible dependents. Basic Purpose: Monitors and supervises 3-5 Team Leaders and their platoons, which consist of 35-40 youth (ages 16-18) in the Thunderbird Challenge Program. Essential Functions: · Under general direction, monitors and supervises 3-5 Team Leaders and their platoons, which consist of 35-40 youth (ages 16-18) in the Thunderbird Youth Academy. · Maintains accountability of all platoons at all times. · Maintains discipline and security within a quasi-military atmosphere and develop team oriented attitude in the cadet corps. · Mentor and role model for cadets in the program. · Second level counselor and problem solver for the cadets. · Enforces program rules and policies · Plans resources and supervises training. · Supervises and maintains support documentation as tasked to the Operations Department in accordance with NGB and TCP guidelines. Maintains personnel support documentation on staff personnel assigned, to include annual ratings. · May have a rotating shift. The shift of this position may change due to the staffing needs of the facility. · Performs additional duties as required. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Military background preferred, but no necessary*. Be able to speak/communicate orally to a group of people; have demonstrated ability to work in a stressful environment. Computer based skills to work on internet/Google and Microsoft applications. *NON MILITARY APPLICANTS must be willing to learn knowledge of military structure and procedures (Drill and Ceremony, Physical Fitness, Customs and Courtesies). Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED required. Degree not required but is preferred. Minimum 5 years of experience, including at least 1 year of professional experience working directly with youth.1 year of supervisory experience is required. Experience working in a team/collaborative environment is preferred. All required experience must be clearly listed on the resume. . Licenses/Certificates required: Possession of or ability to obtain a CDL driving permit within 90 days of employment and CDL drivers license within 12 months of employment. Physical Requirements: Requires long periods of standing and walking indoors and outdoors throughout the day Working in conditions of both high and low temperatures Ability to climb stairs Ability to run a mile and walk extended distances Ability to do pushups, side straddle hops, sit ups and other physical training and fitness activities Ability to teach and perform physical training to cadets as outlined by the Youth Challenge Physical Fitness Program Ability to drive or ride in a vehicle for extended distances Conditions of Employment: Contingent on a favorable NCIC/OSBI background check Contingent on passing pre-employment drug & alcohol screening Contingent on passing pre-employment physical Ability to obtain and maintain a T1, child care check security clearance (eligibility for national security positions shall be granted only to persons who are U.S. citizens) Employee will be considered essential personnel (required to work during inclement weather) Available to work if called in due to an emergency Shift work and working weekends (facility open 24 hours, 7 days a week) Must maintain a valid drivers license Obtain a CDL permit within 90 days of employment Obtain a CDL drivers license within 12 months of employment Requires long periods of standing and walking indoors and outdoors throughout the day Working in conditions of both high and low temperatures Ability to climb stairs Ability to run a mile and walk extended distances Ability to do pushups, side straddle hops, sit ups and other physical training and fitness activities Ability to teach and perform physical training to cadets as outlined by the Presidents Challenge for Physical Fitness Ability to drive or ride in a vehicle for extended distances Tobacco and Vape Free Facility Serves a 12 month trial period (new employees) Position which is contingent on continuous federal funding Note: This agency receives federal funding and follows federal statutes, rules, and policies.
