Working Title: Plant Maintenance Engineer Institution: Century College Classification Title: Plant Mntc Engineer Bargaining Unit / Union: 202: AFSCME - Craft, Maintenance, and Labor City: White Bear Lake FLSA: Non Job Exempt Full Time / Part Time: Full time Employment Condition: Classified - Unlimited Salary Range: Job Description Position Purpose To maintain and repair the physical plant and equipment. This is to include boilers and all heating-related equipment and all HVAC equipment. All water cooled and air-cooled chillers, and related cool systems. Provide assistance to the other facility departments as needed to support and maintain the day-to-day operation of the College. This position will drive college vehicles as part of the Facilities Staff. Position Responsibilities To perform skilled maintenance and repair work on, heating/cooling plant, power equipment, boilers, generator, pumps, compressors, heaters, and motors so that the facilities heating, cooling, and emergency equipment will always be in working order. Provide the necessary materials for the ongoing preventative maintenance and the anticipated maintenance of physical plant equipment. Perform maintenance repairs when notified by work order or directly by your lead worker/supervisor. Responsible for the maintenance and repair of kitchen/coffee shop equipment. Minimum Qualifications Current Boilers License First (1st) Class Engineer Grade C Must possess a valid drivers license and a good driving record. This is required to drive campus vehicles. Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physical requirements of the job, including bending, stooping, lifting a minimum of fifty (50) pounds, reaching above the shoulder level, crouching, pushing, and pulling on a frequent basis, climbing ladders and squatting. Ability to perform repetitive motions with various types of equipment and tools on a regular basis. Preferred Qualification Possession of a Universal Refrigerant License. Working knowledge of operation, maintenance, repair, and installation of plumbing. Working knowledge of electrical systems/repair. Ability to use tools for making general repairs including hand and power tools. Basic carpentry skills. Able to develop plans and estimate supplies and materials as well as read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals. Human relation skills and ability to deal with employees and the public to establish good working relationships. Knowledge of the principles and practices involved in the operation and maintenance of low-pressure power plant safety standards and the ability to establish and maintain accident prevention practices. Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to work without direct supervision or direction. Positive problem-solving skills. Work Shift (Hours / Days of work) Days / Tuesday - Saturday 7:00 AM 3:30 PM This position follows a seasonal work schedule. During the heating season, which typically runs from October 15 to May 15, the work hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Outside of the heating season, the schedule shifts to Monday through Friday, with the possibility of a flexible summer schedule and hours depending on availability. Telework (Yes/No) No Salary Range: $33.07 - $38.40/hour (DOQ Salary Placement will be done at time of hire.)
