SUMMARY: Reporting to the Director of Spiritual Care, works as a member of the Spiritual Care Team to ensure the delivery of an effective and efficient program of Spiritual Care services to patients, their loved ones and staff of all or no faith traditions. The core Success Factors include: Instill Trust and Value Differences Patient and Community Focus and Collaborate RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs all duties of the Chaplain and demonstrates expertise in Spiritual Assessment of the spiritual needs and resources of patients, their loved ones, and staff with the ability to provide quality spiritual care interventions while working toward appropriate spiritual care outcomes through expert utilization of the Spiritual Assessment model, Outcome-Oriented Chaplaincy.Participates in the delivery of a Spiritual Care Program according to the Standards of Practice of the Association of Professional Chaplains.Respond in a timely manner to all requests for Spiritual Care services.Promote an interdisciplinary approach to spiritual care services including participation on rounds and/or committees as needs are identified.Participate in providing appropriate worship opportunities.Participate in meeting ritual and sacramental needs.Participate in provision of spiritual care education to hospital community as needs are identified.Work collaboratively with community clergy and spiritual leaders.Records work with patients in electronic medical record according to documentation template based on the Outcome Oriented Chaplaincy model of care.Maintains records, prepares reports and composes correspondence relative to duties and responsibilities.Participates in departmental and community projects, as assigned.Participates in quality assurance activities in accordance to department, hospital and The Joint Commission standards.Maintains and enhances professional expertise through educational activities.Adheres to Brown University Health, Hospital and departmental policies and procedures to maintain a safe environment of care and follow all laws, regulations, and standards. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: BASIC KNOWLEDGE:Must be certified, or eligible for certification, as a Board-Certified Chaplain by and in good standing with a national chaplaincy certifying body, such as the Association of Professional Chaplains, the National Association of Catholic Chaplains, the National Association of Jewish Chaplains, and the Spiritual Care Association.This certification requires a college degree, a masters level degree in a field related to health care chaplaincy, a minimum of two units of clinical pastoral education required, and a rigorous professional and per review process.EXPERIENCE:Between six months and one year of clinical experience preferably in a health or mentalhealth setting with an emphasis on populations to be served in the assigned area.Computer literacy and a skill level in Microsoft Office Suite of intermediate Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.INDEPENDENT ACTION:Performs independently within department policies and practices. Refers specific complex problems to manager and director where clarification of departmental policies and procedures may be required.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:May provide supervision to students.
