Full Job Description

Job Description: The HVAC technician is a position in the Facilities Management department that requires significant experience in HVAC maintenance, repair, or installation. The HVAC Technician II will preferably be actively pursuing a formal licensure or working in a formal apprenticeship. Regardless of specialty, an HVAC Technician II may be required to perform other maintenance tasks as needed, such as minor repairs or assisting with other projects. Essential Functions Responsible for the maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Performs routine to moderately complex maintenance and inspections, diagnosing and repairing issues, ensuring all systems are operating efficiently and effectively. Work with a variety of systems and equipment, including boilers, chillers, air handlers, and control systems. Works with little supervision or with minimal support from outside contractors. Skills HVAC Systems Refrigeration Systems Chillers Refrigerant handling Boiler operations Steam Systems Cooling Towers Building Automation Systems Electrical Control System Troubleshooting Safety Physical Requirements: Required Qualifications Experience as an HVAC technician. Demonstrated abilities of the skills listed above A valid driver license may be required for this position. Demonstrated ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment by following established safety procedures and protocols. The ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a healthcare setting Physical Requirements Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs. Frequent interactions with customers that require employee to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items. For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles. Bending, lifting, stooping, crawling, laying, sitting, walking, climbing. Use of hand and power tools, proper use of hearing and eye protection. Exposure to extreme temperatures in nature, work in noisy or constricted spaces, exposure to odors and smells.
