This full stcak software development Engineer role is part of the XE - Checkout Experience team which sits within our Technology division. XE - Checkout Experience owns and operates critical checkout and booking services across Expedia Group brands, ensuring travelers can seamlessly review trip details, choose how they pay, and complete their bookings reliably at scale. In this role, you will build and maintain resilient, high-performing checkout services that keep travelers bookings flowing smoothly, even under heavy traffic and complex, multi-product journeys. As a Full Stack Software Engineer working on Expedias critical production checkout applications, your mission will be to ensure Expedia Checkout is always fast, available, scalable, and engineered to withstand unparalleled demand. You will be in the thick of solving the [often unexpected] problems of systems at scale in a way most engineers never experience. You will have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, proficiency in coding and systems design, solid interpersonal skills and a desire to tackle the complex problems of scale. You are a collaborative and creative individual and you thrive in a dynamic and agile environment. You adapt to new technologies and enjoy working on complex problems. What you will do: Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality software components and services, contributing to low-level system design, API design, and data modeling within your teams domain. Implement robust, secure, and performant code using established engineering best practices, including automated testing, code reviews, observability, and continuous integration and delivery. Collaborate with product, design, and engineering peers to refine requirements into clear technical solutions, breaking down work into incremental, shippable deliverables. Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues, improving reliability, scalability, and operational excellence of services you own or support. Safely integrate and operate AI/MLenabled solutions that improve outcomes, including familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products. Contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing, and cross-team collaboration, enabling your solutions to be reusable and fungible across multiple services and domains. Minimum Qualifications 2+ years of professional experience in full-stack software development. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science; or equivalent related professional experience. Proficiency in at least one modern programming language(Java/Kotlin) and associated frameworks, with solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, debugging, and unit/integration testing. Experience contributing to the operational lifecycle of services (monitoring, alerting, deployment pipelines, and incident handling) within a team setting. Preferred Qualifications Full-stack engineer with proficiency in Python, JavaScript, and React. Solid experience with agile project methodologies and working with distributed teams. Able to work closely with and incorporate feedback from specialists and product owners. Strong customer focus, with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Proficiency with LLM-powered applications, agentic workflows. Experience with AI-enabled software development workflows, including use of AI coding assistants and automated testing tools. The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $119,000.00 to $166,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $190,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role. Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individuals knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
