Agency Adult Correction Division COO - Administration Job Classification Title Maintenance/Construction Technician I (S) Position Number 65014896 Grade NC03 About Us The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! Description of Work The Division of Engineering, Construction, and Maintenance (DECM) is recruiting for an energized and collaborative Regional Maintenance Technician I to be a part of the Mountain Regional Maintenance Team. This position will learn the skills to perform general preventative maintenance and like-in-kind Force Account system replacements. The Regional Maintenance Technician I position is a basic level position that does not require any previous experience in the maintenance or construction trades. The only requirements to be successful, is to have a positive attitude and an eagerness to learn. As a Regional Maintenance/Construction Technician I, you will be taught the skills and gain useful experience in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of general, plumbing, HVAC, and/or electrical systems, equipment, and machinery. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Salary Grade Range: $31,200 - $ 53,812 The Posting Will Close At 11:59 P.M. Schedule and Location This position requires the daily commute to DECM Mountain Regional Maintenance Yard in Lenoir, NC. The work schedule is Monday Friday and may require some weekend work and overnight travel to meet the demands of the organization. About the Division of Engineering, Construction, and Maintenance (DECM) The Division of Engineering, Construction, and Maintenance (DECM) coordinates all North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections (NCDAC) construction and renovation efforts, working closely with the State Construction Office to bring projects to life. We represent the department on key property and building matters while keeping facilities running smoothly through expert support for mechanical, electrical, kitchen, and other essential systems. With a dedicated team specializing in design, project management, and sustainability, DECM helps ensure our facilities stay safe, efficient, and ready to serve.
