What this job involves: As a Facilities Planner/Estimating Specialist you'll serve as the critical link between facility assessment and operational planning by conducting comprehensive on-site evaluations of building systems and infrastructure. You'll leverage your MEP expertise to develop detailed cost estimates and scope documents for maintenance projects while identifying potential system failures before they impact operations. Working closely with facility teams, you'll create preventive maintenance strategies, prioritize tasks based on operational impact, and monitor project progress against established budgets. Your analytical approach to facility assessment will directly contribute to extending asset lifecycles and implementing cost-effective solutions that maintain operational excellence across the facility portfolio. This Monday through Friday on-site position requires someone who can seamlessly blend technical knowledge with practical field experience to enhance facility reliability and performance. Your day-to-day tasks will include: Conduct comprehensive job walks to assess facility conditions, operational systems, and maintenance requirements. Develop detailed cost estimates for routine maintenance, repairs, and operational improvements. Create precise scope documents for preventive and corrective maintenance projects based on field observations. Perform quantity takeoffs and material estimates for facility upkeep and operational continuity. Develop maintenance budgets and schedules based on equipment conditions and performance metrics. Identify critical system failures or potential operational disruptions during job walks Prioritize maintenance tasks based on urgency, operational impact, and resource availability. Monitor maintenance project progress against established estimates and budgets. Maintain accurate documentation of equipment conditions, service histories, and maintenance requirements. Develop and implement preventive maintenance strategies to extend asset lifecycles. Coordinate with facility operations teams to minimize disruptions during maintenance activities. Evaluate and recommend cost-effective solutions for recurring maintenance issues. Work Schedule: Monday Friday, on-site, 1st shift Required Skills and Experience: 3+ years of MEP experience in facilities planning with demonstrable estimating expertise. Proven track record of conducting thorough job walks and translating observations into accurate estimates. Strong knowledge of building systems, maintenance methods, and industry pricing standards. Experience with facility management CMMS. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, equipment specifications, and maintenance manuals. Excellence in documentation and reporting of facility conditions. Strong mathematical and analytical skills for developing precise cost estimates. Excellent communication skills to explain technical findings to diverse stakeholders. Desired or preferred experience and technical skills: Professional certification in facilities management or maintenance (CFM, IFMA, or similar). Experience with predictive maintenance technologies and condition monitoring. Knowledge of sustainability practices and energy efficiency in operations. Understanding of building codes and regulatory compliance requirements for facility operations. Physical Requirements Ability to walk facilities for extended periods to perform thorough assessments. Capability to access mechanical rooms, confined spaces, and challenging areas during inspections. Valid driver's license for travel to multiple facility sites.
