Each of our ingredients responds to unique and essential needs, and they enable healthier lifestyles. The Role We are looking for our next Plant Production Shift Supervisor within our team. The Plant Production Shift Supervisor is responsible for the day to day running of the Production Department under the general supervision of the Production Manager. This position will be responsible for meeting all production and shipping requirements in a safe, timely and efficient manner and to coordinate and assist in supervising a team of production employees to maximize safety and improve productivity. This position will actively contribute to support and work to continuously improve the safety program. Responsible for utility, boiler, cooling tower and chiller operation. This position is located in Gurnee, Illinois, USA Compensation The current salary range for this role is estimated to be $90,000 - $100,000. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation. The specific compensation offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, qualifications, experience, and location. What You'll Do · Assist the Production Manager in all aspects of day to day operation of the plant, providing leadership and direction in the day to day decision making for production units. · Supervise the operation of plant equipment to maximize productivity; providing operational and technical support to the operators. · Main point of contact for utility unit operations such as boilers, air compressors and cooling towers. · Ensure that all employees understand and follow standard operating procedures, plant operation, and equipment maintenance requirements through hands on training and control systems. · Manage routine and safety training for all operations personnel. · Complete performance reviews for all subordinates. · Process time cards, vacation/time off requests and maintain staffing schedule for area of responsibility. · Ensure that good housekeeping practices are maintained in all areas of the plant. · Actively participate in the plant safety programs, reviewing and enforcing all safety and health regulations, providing safety training as needed, completing action items necessary for safety and health compliance, and investigating any safety problem or accident within department. · Perform activities and participate in project initiatives to improve the reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement of plant operations; implements best practices. · Assist with the coordination of plant shutdowns, including coordination of plant personnel tasks and ensuring all necessary materials and equipment are obtained. · Review maintenance requests and coordinate daily maintenance activities with the maintenance staff. · Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned. · Perform critical off shift maintenance tasks. · Order safety equipment. What You'll Need Education · BS degree or equivalent experience. Experience · 1-3 years of experience in a food and/or chemical continuous processing plant. · 1-3 years leadership and/or supervisory experience desired; 3-5 years supervisory experience preferred. · Demonstrated experience in successful troubleshooting and problem solving facilitation skills. · Computer skills desired, especially Microsoft XL, Outlook, Power Point and Word. Supervisory Responsibility · Complete performance reviews for all subordinates. · Coordinate and assist in supervising a team of production employees. Work Environment · Office and plant work environment, primarily in plant and plant office-like environments. · Indoors 85%, Outdoors 15%, Sitting 15%, Standing 55%, Walking 30%. Physical Demands · Must be able to lead and participate in CSE teams, including entering small spaces while wearing rescue equipment and personal Protective Equipment (PPE). · Must be able to wear a respirator. · Seldom crawling, climbing, twisting head/neck and/or back, repetitive use of legs. · Occasional bending/stooping, kneeling, reaching overhead, handling/fingering/grasping, repetitive use of hands/arms. · Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 50 lbs. · Talking and hearing. · Near, far, color and field of vision required. Position Type / Expected Hours of Work · Must be available to work flexible hours. · This position will work a rotating shift 24/7. Technical Applicative Competencies · Demonstrated sound, assertive, positive leadership skills, as well as strong and effective coaching skills. · Demonstrated clear, informative and persuasive (verbal, written and presentation) communication skills. · Effective organizational and planning skills with the demonstrated ability to multitask. · Working understanding of chemical unit operations in a food grade process. · Understanding of theory concerning food-grade processing and mechanical aptitude with food-grade process equipment preferred. · Demonstrated experience in project execution, with project management experience preferred. · Demonstrated fundamental understanding of mechanical equipment. · Demonstrated ability to develop and execute against production plans to meet output requirements. · Demonstrated experience in successful troubleshooting and problem solving facilitation skills.
