Job Description SUMMARY: Responsible for performing a variety of duties in the care, prevention and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. This individual will be an integral part of the Sports Medicine team who must interact with the student athlete, athletic staff and medical community. Primary responsibilities include coverage and care of athletes in their respective fields. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT: Office environment (sitting, standing, walking, typing) Working in extreme cold, heat, humid and wet conditions Regular travel required (team travel) QUALIFICATIONS: Strong verbal communication and listening skills Demonstrated written communication skills Effective interpersonal skills Knowledge and clinical skill in the prevention, recognition, evaluation and treatment of athletic injuries, acute care and emergency response to athletic injuries, rehabilitation and reconditioning of athletic injuries and health care administration A thorough understanding of evidence based medicine and appropriate current standards of care in Sport Medicine A thorough knowledge in anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, exercise physiology, nutrition, and strength and conditioning principles A thorough understanding of NCAA rules as they pertain to Health and Safety, and adherence to all applicable NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations, is required BOC Certified Athletic Trainer, upon hire CPR / AED Certified for Professional Rescuer, upon hire VA Board of Medicine License to practice Athletic Training EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Master's Degree required 4-7 years as a certified athletic trainer 4-7 years in intercollegiate or professional athletics : WORK HOURS: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm. 38.75 hours a week. Schedule may vary. Requires travel.
