The Opportunity The Confirmation Instrument Technician position is located within Abbotts SAMHSAcertified Toxicology Laboratory in Gretna, LA. The individual in this role will be responsible for preparing calibrators and controls, performing annual verifications, assisting with method development, supporting QC review, and carrying out other qualified laboratory duties on an asneeded basis. Shift: Tuesday to Friday 1:00 PM - 9:00 PM What Youll Work On Maintain and ensure the performance of GC/MS and LCMS/MS instruments Maintain and support laboratory testing equipment, including Hamilton liquid handlers Perform troubleshooting on instruments that are not functioning properly. Maintain equipment logbooks using Good Documentation Practices (GDP) Ensure all work complies with company policies Train employees on routine use and maintenance of GC/MS and LCMS/MS instruments Serve as a liaison between the laboratory and instrument vendors Coordinate service calls with instrument service vendors Assist laboratory leadership with the purchase and installation of new instruments Maintain inventory of replacement parts Manage storage of supplies Coordinate EHS activities, including the labs hazardous waste program. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in science or equivalent related field Preferred Qualifications Advanced understanding of analytical techniques, laboratory procedures, and instrumentation. Advanced knowledge of GC/MS and LCMS/MS systems. Ability to detect chromatographic issues and recommend or implement fixes. Advanced ability to review GC/MS and LCMS/MS data. Understanding of R&D and compliance requirements for SAMHSA, CAPFDT, and related regulatory bodies. Advanced understanding of Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and related lab software. Ability to present data clearly and maintain organized, accurate documentation. Strong ability to communicate effectively with supervisory staff. Ability to maintain written records of technical updates and communications. Competencies: Advanced understanding of analytical techniques and laboratory procedures. Advanced knowledge of laboratory instrumentation Understanding of certification and regulatory requirements (SAMHSA, CAPFUDT, etc.) Advanced understanding of Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and related lab software. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and/or move 50 pounds Ability to have full body movement Must have vision and hearing corrected to meet minimum acceptable norms Mental.Reasoning Requirements: Ability to cope with stress due to production obligations Ability to read and comprehend the SOP, Federal (49 CFR Part 40), and CAP-FUDT guidelines.
