Grade 4 (Hourly) Position Description: The Physiology Core at the Center for Cardiometabolic Science (part of the Envirome Institute) is hiring a full-time Research Technician I. The primary function of this position is to support the in vivo research needs of a group of well-funded PIs in the Center. The duties include scheduling, acquiring, and analyzing echocardiograms in mice; assisting and performing invasive cardiac function measurements, such as hemodynamics (pressure-volume loop) and electrophysiology study in mice; aiding and performing rodent surgeries (such as myocardial ischemia with/without reperfusion, transverse aortic constriction, and intracardiac injection); conducting rodent exercise experiments; archiving research data and documents; managing research supplies and maintaining research equipment. The research technician will work very closely with the Core Director on a day-to-day basis. This position is ideal for someone wanting to learn and master the above-mentioned skills and methods. This is a long-term position with potential for promotion or transition to other research positions based on performance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Scheduling echocardiogram, cardiac function studies and surgeries Conducting echocardiogram Studies and analyzing them Preparing, assisting and performing aseptic surgeries Conducting animal exercise experiments Peri- and post-operative care of experimental animals Archiving research data Managing experimental usage log and IACUC protocols Monitoring and ordering of the Core supplies Aiding and training researchers in the use of the Core equipment Maintaining the Core equipment Preparing and summarizing data for PIs as requested Preferred Qualifications Experience in animal handling or research Ability to work with small animals Background in medicine, biology, physiology, or bioengineering The experience is preferable but not necessary. The technician will be given opportunities to learn and gain the experience to fulfill the essential duties and responsibilities mentioned above Target Compensation Maximum: $31.38 Target Compensation Minimum: $20.92 Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
