Working Title: Accounting Officer Senior Institution: Minnesota State System Office Classification Title: Accounting Officer Senior Bargaining Unit / Union: 214: Minnesota Association of Professional Employees City: St. Paul FLSA: Non Job Exempt Full Time / Part Time: Full time Employment Condition: Classified - Unlimited Salary Range: $29.25 - $42.94 Job Description Provide support to Minnesota state institutions in the use of Minnesota state financial systems, business processes, internal control and financial management problems, so that finances are managed effectively, financial data is accurate and timely and so that they adhere to applicable laws and policies. Serve as a resource for assigned complex Minnesota financial system modules (e.g. Accounts Receivable, Equipment/Fixed Assets, Cost Allocation, Payroll/SCUPPS). Develop business procedures, documentation, and deliver staff training in areas of Minnesota State financial systems, accounting structure, and reporting procedures so that institutional operations are compliant with system-wide policies and procedures and that all applicable requirements are met. Provide ad hoc assistance to institutions by responding to calls and e-mails requesting assistance with the use of the financial systems, appropriate coding of financial activity, reconciliation problems and a variety of other finance related issues. Salary Range: $29.25 - $42.94/hourly ($61,074 - $89,658/annual) Minimum Qualifications Three (3) years of accounting experience; a Bachelors degree may substitute for one (1) year of professional experience. High proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Experience in solving problems based on analyzing data. Experience in using relation database and querying application. Experience in drafting reports and business correspondence. Ability to manage time to meet deadlines and multi-task with limited direction. Strong communication skills (written and verbal). Preferred Qualification Experience in performing individual or group presentations to explain, train, or negotiate. Experience of SWIFT accounting system and state of Minnesota policies and procedures. Knowledge of Minnesota State Financial Systems (ISRS & Workday) and related policies and procedures. Knowledge of State of Minnesota and federal statutes. Experience in documenting business practice and internal control procedures. Knowledge of Accounting and Financial Reporting Standards.
