Job Description The Division of Pulmonary Critical Care and Sleep Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Coordinator 1 to join their team. About this Opportunity Reporting to the Interventional Trials Manager, the Research Coordinator will support multiple translational and clinical research studies focused on lung infection, inflammation, and immunity in the Translational and Interventional Trials Research Group at Harborview Medical Center within the University of Washingtons Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine Key Responsibilities Research Subject Screening for Eligibility and Enrollment - 50% · Screening of University of Washington Medical Center patients through the electronic medical record (EMR) on Epic · Assessment of research study eligibility per protocols inclusion/exclusion criteria · Obtainment of informed consent with research subjects or their legal next of kin · Coordination of biological sample collection (e.g. respiratory samples, blood, urine) · Close interaction with clinical providers to ensure patient safety and protocol adherence · Leading the establishment of improved screening workflows in collaboration with study teams and clinical staff · Managing study regulatory compliance, including compliance with all aspects of Institution and sponsor regulations pertaining to clinical research in human subjects Specimen Processing and Management - 30% · Leading processing of human biospecimens (e.g. respiratory, blood, and urine samples) in accordance with established protocols · Tracking available human subject biospecimens in existing electronic data capture and sample management databases and confirm that all specimens have been obtained in compliance with approved consent process. · Shipping of study specimens and obtaining research specimens from outside researchers in compliance with institution and federal regulations. · Establishing biospecimen processing protocols as needed Data Entry and Management 20% · Data abstraction from the EMR · Data entry in study-specific electronic data capture software (e.g. REDCap) · Organizing and tracking of samples using existing sample management databases (e.g. Freezerworks) · Performing basic database queries to identify specimens and execute sample pulls for analysis · Database cleaning and organization · Preparation of basic reports for study Investigators Required Qualifications: To be considered for this opportunity your application must demonstrate you meet both the minimum qualifications and additional qualifications listed below. Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration. Minimum Qualifications: Applicants who do not meet these qualifications WILL NOT be forwarded to the Hiring Manager. Bachelors degree in a related field and one year of relevant experience. Additional Qualifications: - Must be willing to work with hospitalized patients at the University of Washington Medical Center at Harborview - The individual must have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. - The individual must have demonstrated problem-solving skills, strong detail orientation, and ability to adeptly manage multiple priorities and timelines.
