Flight Test Engineer (Associate or Mid-Level) Company: The Boeing Company The Boeing Company is looking for Flight Test Engineers to join our team in Seattle, WA. Were looking for engineers who can function in a dynamic and exciting flight test environment. Our engineers plan and complete testing of Boeing commercial and military derivative aircraft to assure product safety, performance, and regulatory certification. Our engineers lead extensive test program efforts from creation of requirements through flight execution and reporting. We perform functions including test planning, defining instrumentation requirements, configuration control, test conduct, as well as data collection and analysis. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment with changing requirements. A strong ability to manage multiple work packages at the same time is essential for success. This position will operate primarily at Boeing Field in Seattle, Washington. Travel will be required, sometimes with short notice. There will be assignments that require occasional testing at local, regional, domestic, and international sites for several days up to several months at a time. This requisition is for the Stability and Control (S&C) group in Flight Test Analysis. Our team tests and verifies that the handling characteristics of the aircraft are safe and meet certification requirements. Flight Test engineers in S&C will be required to ride in a designated area of the test aircraft during testing while monitoring on-board data. S&C tests require the aircraft to be piloted to unusual attitudes and operate near the edge of the operating envelope, which can be uncomfortable for participants. Candidates must be physically able to endure -1G to +2.5G maneuvers and operations with uncoordinated or abrupt control inputs including stalls, sideslips, wind-up turns, and other maneuvers. Selected candidates will be required to be medically qualified as a non-flight crewmember post-start. Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate and Mid-Level Flight Test Engineers. Position Responsibilities: Supports the development and verification of test methods Develop detailed test procedures and instrumentation and configuration requirements needed to perform the test and minimize risk within the constraints of the test plan Implements solutions to calibration systems problems of limited scope and impact Evaluate test results and work to resolve any issues encountered Uses analytical tools to verify the design Analyzes, processes, and formats data to customer requirements Reviews test data, including off-nominal data, for accuracy, quality and/or fidelity prior to delivery to customer Prepares and publishes test reports, including Certification Reports, to document test results and satisfy requirements Presents test results internally Ability to maintain focus on test instrumentation while the airplane is at unusual attitude and loads Ability to perform Risk Analysis and have a strong focus on safety Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement 2+ years of engineering work experience or equivalent combination of technical education and experience Willing and able to travel 10-20% of the time, both internationally and domestically Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Level 3: 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience Proficiency with one or more of the following areas: aircraft test design/planning, test execution, operation of airplane systems, test article configuration control, aircraft safety protocols, data collection and analysis, or airplane maintenance practices Experience working in a flight test and/or lab test engineering environment FAA Private Pilot training or certificate Drug Free Workplace: Boeing is a Drug Free Workplace where post offer applicants and employees are subject to testing for marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, PCP, and alcohol when criteria is met as outlined in our policies.
