Position Overview World Book is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. The Senior Accountant plays a key role in supporting key accounting processes and strategic finance initiatives. This role oversees complex accounting areas, mentors staff, and collaborates cross-functionally to enhance processes, controls, and reporting. Key Responsibilities Financial Close, Reporting and Compliance Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements. Oversee accounting over Working Capital, Inventory, Payroll, as well as advanced treatments around Capitalization and Amortization of Software, Pre-Publication and Commissions. Support tax filings, budgeting, and ad hoc financial analysis. Business Partnership and Reporting Partner with and oversee planning and analysis around Research and Development and General and Administrative functions. Assist in variance analysis and management reporting. Process Improvement & Controls Ensure adherence to U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies; maintain and enhance internal controls over financial reporting and audit readiness. Recommend and implement accounting process improvements and automation opportunities, including ERP enhancements and data integrity. Mentor Staff Accountant and other special projects as directed by Finance leadership. Qualifications & Skills 35 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a senior or lead role. Strong understanding of GAAP and excellent problem-solving skills; CPA or progress toward certification is strongly preferred. A drive for process improvement and attention to detail ensuring mistake-free work in a highly repeatable and scalable way. Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Acumatica, NetSuite, SAP, or equivalent) and Excel. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field. Location World Book maintains a hybrid work schedule with two days per week at the corporate headquarters located at 180 N.
