Position Title: Professional Tutor- Math Campus: All Campuses Employment Type: Staff, UnclassifiedPart time Department: Learning Labs Start Date: 08/04/2025 Job Description: Summary The Tutor is primarily responsible for facilitating student learning and helping students understand concepts or applications of course content. This position supports students and assists them in gaining effective study skills and maximizing their potential for their academic success. Must be able to work a minimum of 15 hours a week and willing to work at both campus locations Peoria and East Peoria Campus. Must be able to tutor in the following subjects: 1. Differential Equations 2. Statistical Analysis and General Education Statistics 3. College Algebra 4. Pre- Calculus 5. Calculus I and II Compensation for the PT Professional Tutor is $17.50- $22.00 an hour. Essential Functions This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 1. Provide tutoring instruction to students in the one or more areas. 2. Provide overall academic support in assigned subject. 3. Professional, knowledgeable and patient at all times. 4. Help create a positive learning atmosphere within the Academic Support Program at all times. 5. Maintain confidentiality and appropriate boundaries with students. 6. Prepare supplemental materials Specific to subject. 7. Perform related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities. 1. Associate's degree or higher in related field. 2. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. 3. Strong verbal and written communication skills. 4. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others. Preferred Qualifications 1. Prior enrollment and completion in the selected course. 2. Experience as a tutor, teacher, or instructor. 3. Experience with Academic Software applications. 4. Experience working in an online learning environment. 5. Experience working in higher education.
