Cook Full Time Western Slope Healthcare Center Placerville, CA Starting at $20.00/hour DOE Join Our Team! Do you enjoy preparing delicious, nutritious meals that make a difference in someone's day? Western Slope Healthcare Center is seeking a dependable, compassionate Cook to join our Dietary Services team. In this role, you'll help provide high-quality meals to our residents while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment. What You'll Do Prepare and cook appetizing meals in large quantities following approved menus and recipes. Prepare therapeutic and special diets accurately, including pureed foods. Follow portion control guidelines and ensure attractive meal presentation. Record and monitor food temperatures to ensure food safety compliance. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and cooking area. Ensure sanitizer buckets maintain proper quaternary solution levels. Assist with meal service and clean cooking equipment and serving carts. Follow daily cleaning schedules and sanitation procedures. Work collaboratively with nursing and other departments to provide excellent resident care. Report resident concerns or potential issues to nursing leadership. Assist with the orientation and training of dietary staff. Supervise kitchen operations in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum one year of cooking experience in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, or long-term care setting preferred. Ability to read recipes and follow technical procedures. Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices. Ability to prepare meals for special dietary needs. ServSafe Certification required (or ability to obtain and maintain). Experience with PCC dietary software is preferred. Must remain in good standing with the California Department of Public Health. Physical Requirements Frequently stand and walk throughout the shift. Frequently lift up to 50 pounds. Frequently push, pull, reach, bend, and perform kitchen-related tasks. Ability to work safely in a fast-paced food service environment.
