The Quality Department at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories is seeking an editor who provides excellent customer service, demonstrates high attention to detail, and is willing to take ownership of different types of written communication for our customers. On our Pullman campus, this editor will support all customer communications from the Quality department, including letters to our customers, reliability reports, and service bulletins. They will work with other teams who are focused on problem solving, maintaining ISO-9001 compliance, and analyzing data. As an Editor, a typical day might include the following: Proofreading, editing, and formatting presentations, documents, manuals, guides, and other published materials Developing and maintaining a high level of skill in editing, proofreading, and producing technical documentation Collaborating with authors, reviewers, and other stakeholders to edit deliverables, plan projects, and meet deadlines Following established work instructions, guidelines, and procedures This job might be for you if you have: A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in editing, proofreading, or producing technical documentation, or an equivalent combination of experience and training Strong skills in proofreading, writing, grammar, and communication A solid understanding of Microsoft Office software Superior organizational skills and a high attention to detail Excellent communication and interpersonal skills The ability to work under pressure and meet stringent deadlines The ability to collaborate effectively to produce high-quality, technically accurate material The ability to learn and communicate technical or scientific information Preferred Qualifications A B.S./B.A. in English or technical communication or a related area Experience with desktop publishing software (e.g., FrameMaker) Experience with technical drawing software (e.g., MS Visio or Illustrator) Working knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style and the Gregg Reference Manual Experience editing complex technical documentation Location: Pullman, WA- This position is located in Pullman, WA. We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more or less experience, and the pay range may differ if filled at a different level.
