Business Development Specialist Location: This role is fully remote, offering flexibility to work from any location with reliable internet access, preferably on the East Coast. What you will get: The full-time base annual salary for this remote position is expected to range between $93,000 to $109,000. What you will do: We are seeking a motivated and commercially focused Business Development Specialist to support growth across the Lonza Biosciences Discovery portfolio, with a focus on the Cell and Gene Therapy (CGT) market. This role is responsible for managing a defined territory, driving new business opportunities, and building strong customer relationships across low to mid-volume accounts. The ideal candidate brings solid sales fundamentals, technical understanding, and the ability to effectively manage the full sales cycle while collaborating with internal teams to deliver customer-focused solutions. Own and manage the full sales cycle for assigned accounts, including prospecting, opportunity development, closing, and account expansion Manage a portfolio of low to mid-volume accounts while identifying opportunities to grow high-value customers within the territory Achieve and consistently deliver on monthly and annual sales targets through effective pipeline management Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities while expanding existing customer relationships through cross-selling strategies Maintain and manage a healthy sales funnel, ensuring accurate forecasting and timely progression of opportunities Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including scientific support, product management, and marketing teams, to meet customer needs Develop and maintain strong knowledge of Lonzas Biosciences Discovery portfolio and effectively communicate its value proposition to customers Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, opportunities, and activities within the CRM system What we are looking for: 35 years of experience in sales or business development within the life sciences, biotech, or pharmaceutical industry Demonstrated experience managing the full sales cycle, including prospecting, pipeline management, and closing Strong understanding of cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or related scientific disciplines Working knowledge of drug discovery workflows, pre-clinical development, and the Cell & Gene Therapy landscape Proven ability to build and maintain customer relationships through a consultative and solutions-oriented approach Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities in a fast-paced environment Willingness and ability to travel up to 30% as needed for customer engagement About Lonza At Lonza, our people are our greatest strength.
