DEPARTMENT OF MARINE RESOURCES MARINE RESOURCE MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR Opening Date: December 16, 2025 Closing Date: End of day January 09, 2026 Location: Augusta Position Number: 07200-2654 Class Code: 6412 Grade: 30 (Professional/Technical Unit) Salary: $64,646.40 - $90,896.00 Per Year BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: This is professional services work managing and coordinating marine resource management programs and directly contributing to the effective management of Maines valuable marine resources. This position is focused primarily on overseeing and administering the rule-making activities of the Department of Marine Resources in compliance with Maines Administrative Procedures Act, including emergency rulemakings as required. The position is responsible for coordinating across Bureaus to develop proposed rulemakings in accordance with Department needs and for representing the Department at associated public hearings. The position interacts with the members of the DMR Advisory Council, which has advice and consent authority over Department rulemaking. The position is forward facing and includes frequent communication with the fishing industry and other stakeholders. As time permits, the position will also assist with specific tasks within the Division of Aquaculture as needed. Work is performed under limited supervision. The position reports to Augusta, but remote work is possible with supervisor approval. REPRESENTATIVE TASKS: (A position may not be assigned all the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all the duties that may be assigned): Identifies, researches, and analyzes fisheries issues requiring Department rule-making Coordinates across Department Bureaus to solicit input on rule-making needs Drafts proposed rules for consistency with existing rules and enforceability Administers the rule making process on behalf of the Department in accordance with the Administrative Procedures Act Plans and administers public hearings on behalf of the Department Compiles and responds to public comment on proposed rules. Responds to inquiries from members of the public, industry, and other interested parties to provide information and explain Department positions. Assists with leasing and licensing processes in the Division of Aquaculture as needed KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: (These are required to successfully perform the work assigned): Ability to draft regulatory language for clarity and enforceability Ability to write clearly and effectively. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to manage public hearings. Ability to resolve conflicts when dealing with diverse groups within the regulated community. Ability to work effectively both as a team leader and a team member. Ability to utilize standard computer software. Ability to work independently and manage numerous active projects effectively and efficiently.
