Electronics Specialist Aviation Aids pay range is $22.503 - $33.173 per hour. The pay rate may be commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints if approved. Electronics Specialist Senior/Aviation Aids pay range is $26.005 - $38.334 per hour. The pay rate may be commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints if approved. JOB DUTIES Use schematic diagrams, blueprint drawings, maintenance manuals, and factory publications to operate, modify, test, and repair complex electronic equipment required for aviation navigation and weather reporting systems. Perform construction, installation, preventive maintenance inspection, analysis of meter readings, troubleshooting, repair, or replacement of malfunctioning parts or equipment. Possess knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software applications. Acquire training/instruction on and/or study of the navigational aids listed below, in order to obtain and maintain certifications required to install, maintain, and repair these systems: VHF Omnidirectional Radio Range [VOR], Nondirectional Radio Beacon [NDB], Distance Measuring Equipment [DME] and Automated Weather Observation Systems [AWOS]. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements/ Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Electronics Specialist Aviation Aids: Associate's degree from a vocational technical program in electronics or two years of related experience. Possession of a General Radiotelephone Operator License (PG) issued by the Federal Communications Commission is required within three months of employment. Electronics Specialist Senior/Aviation Aids: Associate's degree from a vocational technical program in electronics and related experience with navigational aid equipment. Additional years of experience in the work described may substitute for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. Possession of a General Radiotelephone Operator License (PG) issued by the Federal Communications Commission. Possession of an FAA letter of verification for Automated Weather Observation Systems (AWOS). Preferred Qualifications: Minimum qualifications of an Electronic Specialist Senior/Aviation Aids + Five years experience in electronics. A solid concept of math and algebra. FCC General Radio Telephone Operator's license. Other: Applicants not possessing the FCC license MAY be considered; however, the applicant must acquire the license within three months of employment. Must have a valid drivers license or ability to provide independent authorized transportation. Overnight travel multiple times a month is required. Regular and reliable attendance is also required. KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES Knowledge of: Tools, materials, methods, and practices of electronic repair and construction work; circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software applications. FCC rules and regulations. Air navigation principles. Electronic principles and theory. Skills In: Establish work priorities. Repair and construct electronic circuits and systems. Math and algebra. Verbal and written communication. Ability to: Operate, repair, and calibrate test equipment. Solve complex electronic equations. Troubleshoot and repair electronic systems, modules, and circuit cards to the component level, both in-house and on-site. Read and understand schematics, construction plans, and drawings.
