The Opportunity Abbott Rapid Diagnostics (formerly Alere) is part of Abbotts Diagnostics family of businesses, bringing together exceptional teams of experts and industry leading technologies. The position of Sorter is within Toxicology located at Gretna, LA at Alere Toxicology Services. In this role, the individual will be responsible for receiving and sorting specimens in accordance with the SAMHSA mandatory guidelines and those of other regulatory organizations. What Youll Work On Receive and open specimens delivered to the laboratory for analysis Sort specimens into bins and transfer to the departments Process courier deliveries and store in designated areas Inspect all trash bags once sorting process is completed to ensure sample and document removal Maintain cleanliness of the Warehouse Accessioning area Assist with freezer cleanout and destruction of specimens Review and document acceptability of specimen and chain of custody forms Adhere to all security procedures for ensuring confidentiality of donor information Must comply with company policy Required Qualifications High School education Preferred Qualifications Basic ability to use a computer Basic ability to understand laboratory technique and procedures Advanced ability to understand certification requirements for SAMSHA, CAP-PUDT, and other relevant regulatory bodies Basic ability to understand the function of a Laboratory Information System (LIS) and other laboratory computer systems Physical Requirements Ability to lift and/or move 50 pounds Ability to have full body movement Work Environment Climate-controlled office and testing laboratory environment Must be able to work in a refrigerated and 20-degree freezer area for storing and removing samples Must be able to climb stairs May be potential exposure to toxic or hazardous materials Apply Now Learn more about our health and wellness benefits, which provide the security to help you and your family live full lives: www.abbottbenefits.com Follow your career aspirations to Abbott for diverse opportunities with a company that can help you build your future and live your best life.
