FM works behind the scenes to ensure the citys departments and agencies can function at their best. The FM Division staff is responsible for providing a full range of building services including plumbing, heating/cooling, electrical, painting, and maintenance of doors, windows, walls, ceilings, floors, among other services. Through seven teams, FM is responsible for maintaining over 8,000,000 million square feet of buildings and structures in over 140 city-owned and leased facilities, sites and structures. The Facilities Management Division (FM) within General Services is seeking a taskoriented, highly skilled HVAC Mechanic I to join Team B, supporting Public Safety Facilities. This role provides essential services for Denver Fire Department stations and Denver Police substations, which are occupied 24/7. We are seeking an individual who genuinely enjoys troubleshooting challenges across a wide range of environments. The person selected for this role will become part of a worldclass team that supports agencies and facilities throughout the City and County of Denver. As an HVAC Mechanic, you will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing facility systems. This includes using automated control systems to manage electrical and mechanical building systems. You will handle daily operations and preventative maintenance on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems, such as air handling units, domestic cool and hot water systems, sump and sewage systems, diesel generators, and fire protection systems. HVAC/Building Engineers are the primary technical staff for facility maintenance, emergency maintenance, minor electrical and plumbing testing, and repairs in the facility. The ideal candidate will be proficient with Building Automation Systems/Direct Digital Control Systems. Overall competency with computers and associated business applications is highly desired. There will be daily interaction with tenants ranging from customers to employees of various Agencies across the City and County of Denver. As such having strong customer service and interpersonal skills will be crucial to success for this individual. Work occurs both indoors and outdoors and may involve physical tasks such as lifting, bending, climbing, and working in confined spaces. The position also requires regular interaction with Fire, Police, and other Public Safety personnel, with a strong emphasis on professionalism, safety awareness, and effective communication. Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics: The ability to service multiple facilities across the City and County of Denver Journeyman HVAC license and Professional experience in troubleshooting and repairing large building HVAC systems in facilities exceeding 100,000 sq. ft. in size Experience in operating Building Automation Systems (BAS) Current Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) License BOMI designation such as Systems Maintenance Administrator (SMA) or Systems Maintenance Technician (SMT) IFMA credential such as Facilities Management Profession (FMP) or Sustainability Facility Professional (SFP) LEED Credential IREM or BOAC designation Previous professional experience utilizing Automated Work Order systems Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Required Minimum Qualifications Education Requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate. Experience Requirement: One (1) year of journey-level HVAC experience maintaining, repairing, and constructing HVAC systems and equipment. Education/Experience Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements. License/Certifications: This job requires driving. Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application. License/Certifications: Possession of one of the following certifications: Refrigeration Operator, CFC (universal EPA), Heating and Ventilating Journeyman, Refrigeration Journeyman, Steamfitter Journeyman, or Stationary Engineer certificates issued by the City and County of Denver by the end of the probationary period.
