Agency Adult Correction Division COO - OPS - Institutions Operations Job Classification Title Administrative Associate II (S) Position Number 60059882 Grade NC02 About Us The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! Description of Work Positions in this class are characterized by their performance of a variety of administrative, clerical, and office support duties. Positions require knowledge of the office or work unit policies and procedures in order to communicate information involving programs, functions, and services. Duties performed may include preparation of documents and reports, composition of memos and letters, the use of office technology, compiling records, organizing and maintaining files, posting information, greeting, referring, assisting visitors, clients, staff, and others, mail distribution, and photocopying. Positions may serve as an office coordinator for a work unit. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences This position serves as the primary staff assistant to the administration office at Nash Correctional Institution and reports to the Administrative Officer III. Job Duties include: Performing of a variety of administrative, clerical, and office support duties. Gaining knowledge of the office or work unit policies and procedures in order to communicate information involving programs, functions, and services. Preparing of documents and reports, composition of memos and letters, the use of office technology, compiling records, organizing and maintaining files, posting information, greeting, referring, assisting visitors, clients, staff, and others, mail distribution, and photocopying. Serving as an office coordinator for the administration office. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. Note to Current State Employees: The salary grade for this position is NC02 (Salary Range: $31,200 - 49,340). State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result. About Nash Correctional Institution: Nash Correctional Institution is a medium custody facility located in Nashville, Nash County NC. It houses approximately 796 male offenders. The facility provides offender labor to two Correction Enterprises operations located on site: the Optical Plant and the Print Plant. The Optical Plant manufactures eyeglasses for customers such as Medicaid and the Division of Services for the Blind. The Print Plant is a full-service print shop dedicated to printing services for state government agencies, public school systems, state community colleges and universities, and non-profit organizations.
