Job Description: Quality Assurance Specialist Core Lab Location: Port Jefferson, NY Schedule: 5/8.5 Hour Shifts Mon-Fri Organization: New York Cancer and Blood Specialists (NYCBS) In This Role, You Will: Develop and Maintain SOPs Create, revise, and implement Standard Operating Procedures to ensure efficiency, compliance, and consistent performance. Regulatory Compliance Apply for and maintain CLIA and CAP certifications, oversee CAP proficiency renewals, and ensure all offices meet CAP standards. Quality Control Oversight Verify accurate reporting of quality control data, ensure timely instrument calibration, confirm compliance with QC/reagent lot installations, and maintain complete logs and documentation. Staff Training & Competency Train new and existing staff, verify competencies, deliver refresher courses, and support satellite labs with quality management practices. Auditing & Inspections Conduct site visits, prepare for mock inspections, and coordinate QA/QC meetings to ensure adherence to policies and procedures across all NYCBS/NY Health laboratories. Operational Support Assist with daily lab operations, troubleshoot technical/operational issues, oversee new lab office integrations, and standardize workflows for efficiency and accuracy. Collaboration & Improvement Partner with program directors to implement new programs, identify training needs, foster positive team relationships, and introduce process improvements. Leadership & Engagement Oversee orientation and onboarding of new hires, lead retraining activities, attend mandatory meetings, and contribute to organizational problem-solving and change management. We Require: Education: Bachelors Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science preferred. Experience: Minimum of two years of clinical or related field experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language: Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus. Skills: Proficiency in Word, Excel, and overall computer skills.
