Right of Way Services (ROWS) Engineering Plan Review team is seeking an experienced professional engineer to skillfully apply rules, regulations, standards and best engineering practices onto private development and capital infrastructure proposed in the public Rights of Way of the City and County of Denver. You will make a direct impact in bettering our City by ensuring high-quality, safe, functional, and equitable infrastructure. You will help our Department in identifying solutions to the most complex problems facing projects in Denver with the following primary duties: Serve as regulatory engineering lead for major or specialized projects, process improvements, or Department initiatives. Provide technical subject matter expertise for and on behalf of the ROWS Transportation Engineering Plan Review team. Guide applicants and project stakeholders through complex issues with solutions that meet City agency standards. Identify requirements and strategies for private land development and capital improvement projects in Denver. Share technical expertise and be a teacher and mentor to help the Transportation Engineering Plan Review team continuously strengthen technical proficiency. Lead the identification and development of best practices for City processes and team services. Represent the City and team in all settings and communication modes with internal and external stakeholders. Occasional after-hours work for community meetings, City Council Meetings, and field observations may be required. Regularly report engineering team metrics, key performance indicators, regulatory quality metrics, and related data points to team supervisor and manager. Foster collaborative and innovative partnerships with City, regional, state, and federal agencies, community groups, the public, and inter-departmental colleagues. Provide regular relationship maintenance to citywide stakeholders, including communications about project status, coordination of political touchpoints, navigation of public processes, and recommended solutions. What Youll Bring Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics: A thoughtful, innovative perspective that will strengthen and advance regulatory transportation engineering services. Five-plus years of civil engineering experience in design, plans review or project management of large-scale and complex private development and/ or capital improvement projects including strong engineering problem solving and conflict management skills. Direct experience in transportation and traffic engineering. Exposure to capital project construction, Wastewater engineering, and municipal infrastructure management will also be helpful. A strong emphasis on collaboration, team building, and employee engagement, with a genuine interest in creating a positive, energizing, and inclusive work environment The ability to think creatively about efficiency and empowerment while effectively navigating the realities of a large, structured public organization Required Minimum Qualifications Education Requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Architecture. Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of experience at the type and level of a Senior Engineer or Senior Architect. Education/Experience Equivalency: No substitution of experience for education is permitted. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for experience requirements. License/Certifications: By position, requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application. Requires registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) by the Colorado State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers at the time of application. Or requires registration as an Architect by the Colorado State Board of Registration at the time of application. Registration in another state will be accepted in lieu of this requirement, provided that the applicant has Colorado registration at completion of probation.
