The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City has an excellent career opportunity for an Experienced or Senior level Facilities Technician versed in LAN Cabling/Security/ Card Access troubleshooting/Fire systems. The successful candidate should have a broad knowledge of industry standards for electronics troubleshooting and repair, including basic knowledge of applicable electrical and fire codes. This position requires knowledge of automated security and fire systems, knowledge of CCTV infrastructure for analog and IP systems, strong computer skills as these relate to job requirements, and a very strong attention to detail. This position has no direct reports. Key Activities Installation and maintenance of a structured LAN environment utilizing CAT6a cabling. Responsible for the design and layout of communication and data cabling. This includes termination and final acceptance testing of the cable to meet TIA/IEE standards. Perform moderately complex repairs and maintenance to various systems with limited supervision including but not limited to CCTV, Physical Access Control systems, Fire detection, Intercom, and data cabling systems Provides training and guidance to other technical staff on areas of expertise. Interprets design drawings, plans and specifications to test, program and troubleshoot Building systems. Coordinates work with outside contractors and vendors as required Performs preventative maintenance, site surveys, replacement, and modifications as needed. Inspect, monitor, and troubleshoot building systems with minimal or no supervision. Communicates to customer, project manager or facilities support staff, as appropriate, regarding status of projects or work orders. Able to work independently. Qualifications One to three years of experience in a skilled craft/trade, such as low voltage controls, access control, fire detection, intercoms, etc. High school diploma or equivalent or GED. Valid drivers license with acceptable driving record required. Ability to multitask and use time efficiently to meet project deadlines. Excellent ability to operate portable power tools (e.g., drills, saws, etc.), table saws, grinders, and non-powered hand tools. Excellent ability to read and properly interpret construction drawings and project plans Strong ability to read, understand, and explain manufacturers warnings, labels, instructions, and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). Excellent attention to detail. Excellent project coordination/management skills. Excellent troubleshooting skills. Good general computer skills, including but not limited to internet application, work order software and Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office. Must be able to effectively document changes made to systems, equipment, or the structure and communicate these changes to the appropriate staff and management. Strong ability to identify procedural improvements, make suggestions, and assist in implementing changes. Ability to work at heights, such as on a ladder/lift. Ability to twist, bend, and lift at least 50 lbs. Strong customer-service skills. Strong initiative and innovative thinking skills. Strong oral and written communication skills. Pay Range: The starting pay range for this position is $53,000 to $81,000 for the job level(s) required for this position. Final offers are determined by factors including the candidates qualifications, internal alignment considerations, district assignment, and geographic location.
