During the shift, you will work in the field throughout the City and County of Denver as needed. This posting will be used to fill two Traffic Signal Technician I positions with a MondayFriday schedule. One position will work daytime hours from 6:30 AM 3:00 PM, and the other will work nighttime hours from 2:30 PM 11:00 PM. We are currently looking to fill one (1) day shift Monday- Friday 6:30 AM 3:00 PM and one (1) night shift Monday- Friday 2:30 PM 11:00 PM (7% shift differential is included with night shift). The Division of Transportation Operations is responsible for managingand maintainingthe performance of the transportation infrastructure. This division has over150employees and is responsible for managing the performance of the transportation infrastructure. The Transportation Operations Division is hiring for a Traffic Signals Technician in Maintenance and Construction. Job duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: General maintenance of traffic signals Learn on the job with the more senior technicians about monitoring and programming traffic signal timing controllers and make necessary adjustments under the direction of a lead worker or supervisor Use of multi-meter to read voltage/ohms in the field and in the shop Work in all type of weather conditions to assist with basic wiring, splicing, phasing out intersections, and work in heights up to the luminaire (35 feet), concrete work, shoveling, building caissons, and conduit work Gain experience and assist with installing, removing, and repairing signal control and auxiliary equipment such as traffic signal controllers and cabinets; working with vehicle detection installs Learn how to evaluate and assist with construction by interpreting blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams Vehicle detection will involve walk behind concrete/pavement saw and air compressor Operate vehicles and perform pre-trip and post-trip inspection to ensure proper functioning, which includes checking fluid levels, observing leaks, monitoring condition of hoses and belts, checking tire pressure, ensuring brake lights and lights work, and performs other related inspections Follow all common safety practices associated with tools and equipment, monitoring work environment for safety and hazards, and ensures safety for self and others. In addition, maintain the equipment and tools for the next scheduled crew Place and remove barricades, cones, and other traffic control and safety devices in and around work areas for construction and maintenance projects in accordance with traffic regulation requirements Use Cartograph and MS Office Suite to log, record, and create daily work reports for management Assist with investigation of complaints and reports of defective traffic signals and associated equipment Drive regular pick up and bucket trucks, operate skid steer, mini excavator; if you have your CDL A, you may operate to haul out the trailer that transports equipment Occasional weekends may be required This is primarily a Traffic signal Maintenance position but there will be occasional construction need What Youll Bring We value diversity of ethnicity, race, socioeconomic status, sexual identity, gender, religion, language, ability, and experience and exemplify this through the makeup of our team at all levels. Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics: Two years of experience in the field/shop with construction of traffic signals, installation, maintenance, or repair Basic wiring, splicing, electrical skills Class A CDL Basic computer skills using MS Office and familiarity with asset management systems Current IMSA Traffic Signal Level I Certification Excellent customer and communication skills Required Minimum Qualifications Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate Experience Requirement: One (1) year of experience in traffic signal installation, construction, maintenance, or repair Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirement. Licensure: This job requires driving Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application Possession of a Colorado Commercial Driver's License (CDL "B") with appropriate endorsements by the end of probation.
