Full Job Description

Location: Cleveland, OH Cleveland-Cliffs has immediate opportunities for the Shift Manager Operations position at our Cleveland, OH plant. This front-line supervisory role is responsible for coordinating safety and quality activities and overseeing production operations to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, quality and productivity standards. The Shift Manager serves as a key link between hourly personnel, maintenance, and leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations in a 24/7 manufacturing environment. Summary of Responsibilities Ensure full compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality standards; conduct regular safety, quality, and environmental audits in a timely manner Uphold and enforce safety rules, environmental requirements, and job procedures while maintaining appropriate discipline and accountability across the crew Monitor operating conditions and promptly intervene with corrective actions as needed, coordinating across multiple disciplines Schedule, supervise, and lead hourly operating and maintenance personnel, working directly with employees on the shop floor and from the Shift Managers office Ensure direct reports receive proper training, job utilization, and development while fostering a fair and respectful work environment focused on excellence in safety and production Collaborate with maintenance teams, planners, and schedulers to develop and prioritize work lists for corrective and preventative maintenance activities Make timely operational decisions in highstress situations within established corporate policies, escalating issues as appropriate Conduct studies and analyses to identify operational issues; develop recommendations and communicate process improvements that enhance reliability, quality, and productivity Supervise assigned turn crews within the operating department Communicate effectively with upstream and downstream stakeholders, including employees and contractors, to coordinate work, deliveries, and services Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of experience in heavy industry or military leadership, with direct responsibility for leading teams, enforcing accountability, and communicating operational expectations effectively. Ability and willingness to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, within a 24/7 operating environment; extended hours as needed Ability to work in a hot, dusty industrial environment and perform physical requirements including climbing stairs and ladders, walking on uneven surfaces, and working outdoors in all weather conditions. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and exposure to databases Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis Preferred Qualifications Associates or Bachelors degree from an accredited institution Three or more years of supervisory experience in a unionized heavy industrial or military environment, with responsibility for workforce discipline, performance accountability, and effective operational communication. Prior steel mill experience strongly preferred. Relocation assistance is not provided for this position. The salary range for this role is $70,000 to $110,000. An employees pay within the salary range will be based on numerous factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.
