Full Job Description

Location: Cleveland, OH Cleveland-Cliffs Cleveland Works has an immediate opening for a Senior Quality Engineer in our Cleveland Works facility. The following primary position responsibilities and key position requirements are intended to provide an overview of the position but are not all-inclusive. Cleveland Cliffs Cleveland Works produces hot rolled steel as well as cold reduced, galvanized and galvannealed coated products for automotive, appliance and other markets. This position is within the Quality department. Summary of Responsibilities: Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards. Ability to work effectively within a team environment, utilizing clear and effective communication and coaching skills. Provide leadership by guiding and supporting team members to overcome obstacles. Lead projects and multidisciplinary teams to support continuous improvement and reduction of waste. Provide metallurgical and technical support for product and process improvement through data analysis, problem solving, expertise in area of responsibility, metallurgical and mechanical concepts, and knowledge of customer operations and markets. Monitor product and process variability and performance to standards with a focus on improving practices and product performance. Meet with internal and external customers to determine root causes of quality and reliability issues and provide customers with timely and robust solutions. Deliver technical solutions to internal and external customers by understanding manufacturing and product capability. Work closely with operations, engineering, maintenance, planning, and other technical resources to drive improvement. Communicate with upstream and downstream operations to improve practices and performance. Various other duties, as needed, to support the business. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Materials Science, Metallurgy, or closely related discipline. Minimum 5 years experience in manufacturing, preferably materials manufacturing. Exceptional communication skills and detail orientation are essential. Solid computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Must be comfortable working in a heavy industrial / mill environment. Preferred Qualifications: 8+ years experience in materials manufacturing, preferably metals. Demonstrated success in defining and resolving problems. Experience with quality assurance in automotive or appliance supply chains. Experience with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 17025, or similar quality standards. Relocationassistance may be considered for highly qualified candidates from outside the local area. The salary range for this role is $90,000 to $115,000. An employees pay within the salary range will be based on numerous factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location and business or organizational needs.
