Job Description Basic Purpose Tourism Information Representatives for the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department (OTRD) are the public facing customer service representatives in one of the states six (6) Tourism Information Centers (TICs). They are responsible for providing customers with requested information or assistance concerning services or directing requests to those who can provide the service. Responsibilities may include operating various types of telephone or communications equipment or serving as a cashier. Typical Job Duties Answers telephones, takes messages, and provides information about OTRD facilities. Assists customers in-person by answering questions and providing information about the State. Actively recommend appropriate resources or destinations to customers inquiring about tourism and recreation opportunities in the state of Oklahoma. Receives and processes both cash and card transactions from the gift shop. Maintain stock of informational travel brochures. Performs general housekeeping in public areas. Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Must be at least 16 years of age. Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of people both orally and in writing. One (1) year of experience in sales, public contact work, handling and processing mail, or general office clerical work; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Requirements Scheduled hours will require flexibility, including holidays, weekends, or events, based on the needs of the agency. All candidates tentatively selected for this position will be subject to a background check.
