Full Job Description

Waste Connections is looking for a community-focused and uplifting Customer Service Representative to join our team in Vancouver, Washington. This is an in-office position. Not eligible for Remote or Hybrid schedule. Schedule is Monday Friday Shift is 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Starting rate of pay is $21.50/Hour Safety Sensitive: No DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Work in conjunction with other departments to resolve customer disputes & demonstrate ability to become proficient in the use of proprietary operational systems. Interview customers and record information into computer for customer service, talk with customers by phone and in person, receive orders for installation, discontinuance, or change in service. Fill out contract forms, determine charges for service requested, collect deposits, prepare change of address records and issue discontinuance orders. Demonstrate effective use of software applications, at a minimum MS Word and Excel proficient. Deliver services to customers in a manner that promotes goodwill. Interact with customers and Waste Connections employees to determine service requirements and resolve problems or complaints in a courteous manner. Ability to work in a fast paced, cooperative, high call volume environment with very detailed expectations. Average call volume is 35-45 calls/shift. Solicit sale of new or additional services. Assist in other areas as needed. WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work environment is in a call center office setting. Areas are clean, ventilated, with ambient lighting. Our Customer Service Representatives normally have their own workstation or cubicle space and are equipped with a telephone, headset, and computer. CSR call areas can be noisy, and work may be repetitious and stressful, with little time in between calls, while still providing excellent service. All calls are recorded for quality assurance and some calls are evaluated to ensure the highest standards. Long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen are very common. MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: Must want to help people and have a positive attitude. Must be a problem solver and comfortable in high stress situations that are time-sensitive. Must have be able to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in English. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. 2-years of Customer Service experience in a high call volume atmosphere. Proficient experience with MS Word, Excel, and Email preferred. Minimum typing speed of 35 WPM and 10-key skills are required. Proof of recent typing skills test preferred. Must have excellent organization and communication skills. Ability to analyze and solve problems, gather data, compile information, and prepare reports. Access to high-speed internet in remote workspace during covid-19 temporary remote working protocols.
