Agency Dept of Environmental Quality Division Environmental Assistance , Customer Serv Job Classification Title Administrative Associate II (S) Position Number 60036110 Grade NC02 About Us The primary mission of the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is to provide science-based environmental stewardship for the health and prosperity of all North Carolinians. The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is the lead stewardship agency for the protection of North Carolina's environmental resources. The organization, which has offices from the mountains to the coast, administers regulatory programs designed to protect air quality, water quality, and the public's health, and works to advance in all-of-the-above energy strategy that fits North Carolina's needs. DEQ also offers technical assistance to businesses, farmers, local governments, and the public and encourages responsible behavior with respect to the environment through education programs provided at DEQ facilities and through the state's school system. DEQ touches the lives of all North Carolinians in many ways to enhance and ensure our quality of life. Description of Work This position is to support the program staff at the Fayetteville Regional Office which includes the following divisions; Air Quality, Energy, Mineral and Land Resources, Environmental Assistance and Customer Service, Waste Management, Water Resources and the Department of Information Technology Services as necessary to provide the required support to the citizens of North Carolina to ensure the preservation of our environment and natural resources. This position must adapt to a rapidly changing environment in the regional office due to changes in environmental laws, general statutes, policies, and procedures which affect permitting guidelines and other related processes. Key Responsibilities: Providing positive customer service interaction with internal and external customers. Processing critical and time-sensitive correspondence, processing invoices and contract payments for the division, processing fiscal documents for programs, and compiling reports for program staff and their respective management. Provide extensive operational, logistical, Inventory, and administrative support to the Fayetteville Regional Office. Providing team back-up in providing administrative coverage to the front desk and other divisions and programs in the Fayetteville Regional Office.
