Position: Mold Technician Location: Chatham, NY Pay: A range of $25.60 - $28.39 an hour based on experience (+ $1.00 an hour for 3rd shift differential pay) Shift: Swing shift- alternates one week, 7am-3pm and the next week 3pm-11pm & 3rd shift- 11pm-7am From a small family business to a multi-billion dollar global company, Sonoco has been changing the face of products and packaging since 1899 all while keeping the heart of People Build Businesses alive. In this position, the candidate is responsible for the safety of himself and fellow employees. Must be experienced in proper mold installation procedures, have a working knowledge and understanding of the five key processing parameters and to be able to utilize this knowledge to produce a quality product. What you will be doing: Safely install and remove molds from injection molding machines according to production schedules. This includes proper alignment and secure mounting of molds. Set up machines with proper parameters, including temperature, pressure, and cycle time. Inspect molds and machines for wear, damage, or defects and report issues to maintenance or tooling departments. Maintain cleanliness and organization of mold storage and work areas. Collaborate with process technicians and quality control to ensure product specifications are met. Follow all safety protocols and company procedures during mold changes and machine setups. responsible for accurate and thorough documentation and data communication We would love to hear from you if: High school diploma or GED required; previous manufacturing experience is a plus. Strong mechanical aptitude and capable of learning injection molding processes. Ability to read technical drawings, and setup sheets. Familiarity with overhead cranes, forklifts, and other mold handling equipment. Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy molds (up to 50 lbs or more with assistance). Standing, bending, and walking for extended periods. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
