Full Job Description

IMEG is hiring a Structural Project Designer in New York, NY, to lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer on low to moderate complexity projects while partnering with senior staff on larger, higher-complexity work. In this role, youll support engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of structural systems for buildings and other structures, providing engineering solutions and advice that drive positive client outcomes. Youll also work within the projects monetary budget while training, mentoring, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations. Principal Responsibilities Lead analysis and design of structural systems using a variety of building materials Utilize engineering software and tools to develop designs, specifications, and calculations per code requirements and IMEG standards Partner with clients to gather requirements, communicate technical information, and build strong working relationships Lead project planning, budgeting, and scheduling to meet deadlines and objectives Document design decisions and client instructions; monitor design progress related to percent complete and fee expended Analyze engineering challenges and collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical solutions Provide in-process reviews of structural design, calculations, and specifications Implement IMEG quality control processes to meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards, and client requirements Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (engineers, architects, and project managers) to deliver integrated solutions aligned with project goals Identify potential project issues and seek advice from the Project Manager Oversee projects through bidding, design, and construction administration phases, while prioritizing safety and acting in an ethical and professional manner Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies; contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG Required Qualifications and Skills Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent, required Masters Degree (MS) in Structural Engineering preferred Engineering In Training (EIT) required Engineering In Training (EIT) Certification preferred 3 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry OR Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications Strong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in mechanics and materials, load paths, design techniques, design standards including steel, concrete, wood, masonry, and concepts involved in structural systems of buildings and structures Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff Proficiency of industry standard engineering software and tools including structural engineering design and analysis software Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment Attention to detail and problem-solving skills Eagerness to adapt to new challenges Proficiency in the use of BIM software Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays This position is not eligible for sponsorship. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
