Job TitleAccelerator Operator Agency Texas A&M Agrilife Research Department Food Science & Technology Proposed Minimum Salary$18.00 hourly Job LocationCollege Station, Texas Job TypeStaff Job Description The Accelerator Operator, under the supervision of the Accelerator Specialist, works in the Cold Room Warehouse (average 55°F) and works with the Shift Supervisor (and their direct reports) to process products in a timely and efficient manner. The position fully understands how to start-up/shut-down the LINAC system, how to schedule batches to be processed, how to properly label processed items, monitors product as it moves through the beam, and keeps detailed records of daily notes, faults, etc. during shift processing. The Accelerator Operator will assist with installation of systems and equipment, and the development of associated process procedures and instructions but primarily will focus on routine operations and maintenance. Responsibilities: -Provide support for operational and testing activities of the accelerator and associated systems. -Assist with routine maintenance, functional tests, and inspections of accelerators and associated systems and equiment. -Complete proper documentation including Work Instructions, Forms, and Logs. -Keep working space and warehouse clean, tidy, and trash free -Labeling of items and pallets that have completed processing -Assist with non-processing tasks such as deep cleaning, simple maintenance and repairs -Know procedures and complete proper documentation for receiving/shipping and dosimetry lab requirements. -Alert proper 'Chain of Command' of any saftey or hazardous issues -Arrive to shift in proper uniform, follow all rules and regulations, and complete training courses as required -Assist dosimetry team with research processing as needed -Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience: -High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience. -Two years of related experience. Preferred Education and Experience: -Warehouse experience and machine operating experience Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: -Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. -Ability to lift moderately heavy objects. -Ability to exert heavy force. -Ability to work beyond normal business hours and/or work on weekends. -Strong verbal and written communication skills -Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications, familiarity with computer programs -Ability to stand for 8 hours Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn maintenance on the machine - Ability to prioritize/balance multiple tasks to meet team goals and deadlines - Critical attention to detail regarding instrument parameters for both research and commercial processing orders - Strong service ethic and desire to maintain NCEBR high standards for handling client products - Willingness to contribute beyond the defined role to meet needs as circumstances require - Self-starter and strong desire to achieve results Other Requirements: Must be age 18 or older due to safety requirements of the warehouse and Electron Beam LINAC system All positions are security-sensitive.
