Technician / Laborer

Chiquita Canyon Landfill, a Waste Connections company, is looking for a Technician / Laborer to join the team in Castaic, CA! The schedule is subject to change, but will most likely be Monday Friday 4am-2pm plus every other Saturday. The starting pay range for this position will be $26-28/hour. The pay range for this job category is $26-30/hour. Your hourly rate will depend on experience and certifications. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Replacing and repairing valves and tanks used for holding liquid Moving and securing hoses from trucks to tanks Communicating clearly with other employees and vendors regarding liquid management Working with Compliance Manager on other projects as needed WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work involves constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, odors, hazardous materials and/or loud noises Moderate physical activity, such as walking up and down hills, climbing stairs, bending and lifting up to 50 pounds. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following safety precautions and training MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: HAZWOPER (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response) training is highly preferred. Ability to get the 40 hour certification once hired is required. Valid driver's license and clean driving record. Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules that are set forth; promotes the Companys safety standards; work with a sense of honesty, integrity and trustworthiness Experience working with hazardous waste is highly desirable Ability to adhere to work schedule, take initiative, and follow through on challenges as they arise Minimum 1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified Ability to effectively communicate with vendors, customers, and other employees To be considered for any of our current openings you must complete an application at www.wasteconnections.com.
