Veterinary Assistant Location: VCA Rancho San Diego Animal Hospital Position: Full-Time Pay Range: $17.40 - $23.50 per hour About Us VCA Rancho San Diego Animal Hospital is a 3-doctor general practice caring for dogs, cats, and exotic pets. We are looking for a compassionate, detail-oriented Veterinary Assistant to join our team. This role supports veterinarians and technicians in delivering high-quality care and exceptional service to our patients and their owners. Experience in veterinary care is helpful but not required. Key Responsibilities Assist veterinarians and technicians during exams, treatments, and surgeries Safely restrain animals during procedures Prepare and clean exam rooms and surgical areas (including sterilizing equipment and setting up supplies) Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed Monitor and record vital signs and animal behavior Administer medications under veterinarian supervision Maintain accurate patient records and update charts Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling and managing inventory Communicate clearly and respectfully with pet owners Keep all clinic areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Previous veterinary or animal care experience preferred Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team Basic skills in animal handling and restraint Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods Genuine passion for animal care and welfare Work Schedule 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts Weekends off Enjoy a fun, dynamic, and educational work environment with caring coworkers Benefits Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) retirement plan Employee pet care discounts Paid vacation, holidays, and sick days Uniforms provided Access to wellness programs such as Headspace and Lyra How to Apply Current employees: Please apply through our internal career site via Workday.
