Ready to shape the future of resilient communities? We are seeking a Staff Scientist II in Sacramento, CA. We provide consulting services to public, private, and nonprofit clients in California and across the United States. Our team supports projects from early planning and design through construction and longterm environmental monitoring. This role offers handson learning opportunities while supporting realworld projects from start to finish. What Youll Do: Independently conduct and lead ecological surveys, including wetland delineations, biological resource assessments, and habitat restoration evaluations Prepare and contribute to technical sections of environmental impact assessments, NEPA documents, and permit applications Coordinate with regulatory agencies and clients on assigned projects Manage field crews during site investigations and contribute to quality review of junior staff work products Support proposal development and scopeofwork preparation Apply advanced ecological expertise to evaluate field and laboratory data and identify trends, relationships, and environmental implications Clearly communicate technical findings to clients, agencies, and multidisciplinary project teams What Youll Bring: Bachelors degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Biology, or a related field 36 years of relevant or progressive experience in ecological consulting, environmental assessment, or natural resource management Professional certifications such as Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) or Certified Wildlife Biologist are preferred Experience with wildlife ecology and speciesspecific habitat analysis Proficiency in riparian ecology and stream and wetland assessment methods Understanding of landscape ecology principles as applied to landuse impact analysis Knowledge of soil biology and soil classification for environmental characterization Working knowledge of invertebrate zoology related to bioassessment Strong analytical, criticalthinking, and problemsolving skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Salary Range: $60,000-$85,000 Benefits: Flexible Work Environment Paid Parental Leave Medical Dental Vision Life and AD&D Insurance Short-Term and Long-Term Disability 401(k) with Company Match Paid Time Off + Holidays Verdantas strives to develop new ways to increase diversity awareness within our organization.
