Agency Dept of Health and Human Services Division EMPLOY , INDEP FOR PEOPLE W/DISAB - EIPD Job Classification Title Administrative Specialist I (S) Position Number 60055178 Grade NC08 About Us The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest, most complex agencies in the state, and has approximately 17,000 employees. It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence. Description of Work The Rehabilitation Casework Technician will partner directly with three VR Counselors serving individuals with a variety of disabilities in Burke County. The position will be located in the Morganton VR Unit Office at WorkSource West in Morganton. The successful applicant will provide casework assistance for three Vocational Rehabilitation counselors. Key duties include: Interact with consumers individually and in groups for the purpose of sharing and gathering information and documentation to assist counselors with determining eligibility, developing Individualized Plans for Employment, and providing vocational rehabilitation services Document consumer information, interactions, and services by entering casework data into case management system throughout the rehabilitation process Prepare documents and correspondence, such as purchase authorizations and letters. Provide follow-up contact with consumers, employers, vendors, and other agency personnel as needed Assist NC EIPD staff with employment marketing skills workshops, job fairs, or public relations event. Provide other support as designated by the counselor and complete all related administrative tasks. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Salary Grade Range $37,782 - $66,120 Recruitment Range $37,782 - $40,170 Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred: Knowledge of or experience working with people with disabilities or underserved/marginalized populations Demonstrated experience performing routine office support functions Demonstrated experience working with the public knowledge and experience working with a team Experience working with a team and the public Drivers license required for travel in assigned areas.
