Student Employee - Academic Advisor Assistant **This is a temporary position with an anticipated end date of April 2026.** Position Summary: Student Employees are eligible to work on campus in a part-time capacity according to Ensign College Student Employment Policy. In addition to fulfilling this purpose, each employee continuously strives to bring about the mission of Ensign College, which is to develop capable and trusted disciples of Jesus Christ. Hours: 15-19 hours a week during the semester, and the starting wage for all student employees is $14.00 per hour, with the possibility of a $.25 rate increase each semester of continued work based on merit. **This is a temporary position with an anticipated end date of April 2026.** Summary: The Student Success Center (SSC) exists to support Ensign College (EC) in its mission to developcapableandtrusteddisciples of Jesus Christ. We do this by providing quality tools, resources, and experiences designed to assist students in achieving college success. Academic Advising is a key resource offered by the SSC and plays a critical role in the student journey. Student Employee - Academic Advisor Assistants assist full-time Academic Advisors by supporting students in every aspect of their student experience as part of an Advising Team. They work with prospective, current, and former students to help them understand EC certificate and degree offerings, identify the right program of study to align with professional or future educational goals, develop academic plans, check completion progress, clarify EC student policies and processes, connect students to other resources for success, and act as trusted mentors to guide students on their path to achieving their academic and professional goals. Essential Skillset: Currently enrolled as an Ensign College student taking at least 6 credits (3 per block) and in good academic standing. Must have and maintain a cumulative 3.5 GPA Highly developed ability to verbally communicate in a clear and concise manner Active listening Caring and empathetic nature Critical thinking and complex problem solving Social perceptiveness and high emotional intelligence Mature judgment Understanding of Ensign education structures, policies & procedures Detail-oriented Self-starter Ability to work well independently and collaboratively Ability to quickly establish and maintain interpersonal relationships Teachable and adaptable Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other standard software programs, as well as a working knowledge of office equipment Ability to learn and utilize Civitas and other technology quickly Essential Job Functions: Assist full-time Academic Advisors in supporting students (new, continuing, & returning) by providing mentoring and guidance throughout their academic journey at Ensign College. This includes helping students understand program offerings, graduation requirements, career/major exploration, setting and achieving goals, course planning and registration, etc. This is done through one-on-one advising in-person, over the phone, or throughremote video conferencing, and through additional targeted outreach efforts Facilitate students' academic progress by evaluating their needs and working with them to develop appropriate goals and plans for success Assist students in finding solutions to everyday issues that could impede their college success by connecting them to other college or community resources Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) laws Work closely with their full-time assigned Academic Advisor to ensure understanding and mastery of program offerings, course equivalencies and substitutions, prerequisites, etc. Keep current on continually changing curriculum requirements Understand and uphold college policies and help students do the same Maintain students academic files that include a record of the advising activity that takes place during each visit Work closely with their assigned full-time Academic Advisor and the Registrars Office to ensure accuracy of degree audits Coordinate data compilation, statistical reports, and correspondence, depending on the area of assignment Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. NEAR ACUITY Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.
