OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANY Fox TV Stations FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Networks national content. JOB DESCRIPTION WTXF is seeking a passionate, high-energy Assignment Editor to join our editorial team. The assignment desk is the heart of our newsroom; we are looking for a news junkie who excels at enterprise story generation, thrives on the adrenaline of breaking news, and possesses the technical savvy to ensure our content is broadcast-ready. Key Responsibilities Editorial Leadership: Gather story information from diverse sources, determine newsworthiness, and lead the charge in "enterprise" story generation. Crew Coordination: Strategically assign and dispatch news crews and chopper, keeping all staff apprised of breaking news, changing assignments, and future coverage plans. Content Production: Select and develop reporting assignments in collaboration with Reporters, Photographers, and Producers. Technical Editing: Manage daily non-linear editing using state-of-the-art equipment. Respond quickly to Producer requests for show elements and edited segments. Communication & Logistics: Conduct "beat checks" with law enforcement/government agencies and maintain constant communication with affiliates and station leadership. Other duties as assigned. Required Skills & Abilities News Judgment: Outstanding ability to identify "the story" and make quick, informed decisions in a fast-paced environment. Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated competency with news editing software, MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), and social media management tools. Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills; ability to deal effectively with diverse personalities under tight deadlines. Adaptability: Proven ability to manage multiple projects independently and remain calm under high-pressure, breaking news scenarios. Operational Flexibility: Must be able to work a varied schedule, including overnights, early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays as news needs dictate. Education & Experience Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of TV news experience preferred, specifically on an assignment desk. Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $60,000.00-72,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents.
