Key Responsibilities: Software Development Lifecycle: Independently or with minimal guidance, participate in defining design requirements, refining requirements with stakeholders, and developing/documenting technical designs and processes. Problem Investigation: Investigate a range of software problems, identify root causes through diagnostic analysis, and code solutions using judgment within defined policies and practices. May lead less experienced peers in coding solutions. Code Writing and Debugging: Write and document code, perform complex debugging, and lead peer code reviews and refactoring efforts under limited direction. Quality Assurance: Ensure software quality by adhering to coding and quality standards and maintaining a high-quality codebase. Release Management: Contribute to and/or lead release management processes, including code deployments and validation, depending on team design and roles. Monitoring and Observability: Ensure applications within scope have appropriate monitoring in place and participate in the implementation of monitoring, observability, and disaster recovery solutions, depending on team design and roles. Security: Identify and resolve security vulnerabilities with minimal guidance, leveraging existing policies and practices, and ensuring solutions are compliant with secure coding policies. Perform ongoing risk analyses. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for and contribute to process and productivity improvements within the team. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Participate in and/or lead cross-team and/or cross-functional efforts (e.g., with Product Support, Quality Assurance, Site Reliability Engineers) to complete project work. Technical Competence: Conduct activities with broad application of software development and engineering principles, theories, and concepts, and apply a working knowledge of other related fields. Mentorship: Demonstrate technical competence within specific applications/domains and provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members. Support: Provide on-call and urgent issue support as necessary. Candidate must be based in the metropolitan area of our hub city Columbus, OH. Position will primarily allow for remote working We are unable to provide sponsorship now or in the future for this position. Basic and Required Skills: Degree or equivalent and typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience Education Bachelors in computer science, engineering or another STEM field or equivalent Candidate must be based in the metropolitan area of our hub city Columbus, OH 4+ years of experience with Ruby, C#, Java, Python 4+ years of experience developing web-based software systems and applications 2+ years of experience with both manual and automated testing/tools 2+ years of experience working with version control concepts 2+ years of experience working in agile practices and methodologies Direct experience with performance monitoring and observability Preferred and Additional Skills: Experience with Typescript, React Familiarity with microservice and event-driven architecture experience Experience working in Cloud PaaS (Microsoft Azure preferred) Experience with multi-tiered web based systems and complex data driven applications Experience with GitHub Experience utilizing CI/CD pipelines, tools and processes Experience with performance monitoring and observability tools and techniques Experience working on HIPAA compliant projects. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
