Custodian This job posting is projected to fill two openings Duties & Responsibilities: ESSENTIAL: Employee may be held responsible for any of the following duties as a building custodian, shelter washer or landscape custodian. Conducts self in an appropriate manner as a representative of RTD, uses sound judgment at all times, works effectively in a diverse environment, works safely on the job, respects co-workers and assures the quality of services to all customers both internal and external. Area trash pickup including trash removal and emptying of dumpsters. Operate facilities maintenance vehicles. Snow removal utilizing shovels, power equipment, and pick-up trucks fitted with show plows. Clean and stock restrooms. Sweep grounds parking, and walk areas. Replace and clean fixtures of various types of lamps. Scrub maintenance inspection pits, shop walls and floors. Wash, buff and wax floors using machinery correctly. Clean carpets using wet or dry vacuum. Dust office and public areas including but not limited to ceiling vents, blinds, stairwells and elevators. Wash windows as required. Drive specified route to facilities to be cleaned. Wash shelters using pressure washer. Spot clean shelters including graffiti removal. Communicate with the public in a polite and tactful manner. Control weeds chemically, mechanically or manually; mulches plant beds and planter boxes. Aerate lawns, lay sod, re-seed areas and apply fertilizer. Plant, water, and feed flowers, trees and shrubs. Prune trees and shrubs. Mow and trim all lawn, open fields and other RTD properties. Reset and replace wheel stops in parking areas. Operates sweepers and scrubbers at the division to clean floors. Paints utilizing brushes and rollers as directed. OTHER: Complete special projects and assignments as directed. Qualifications: Must possess a valid Colorado "R" driver's license . No DUI, DWI, or reckless driving in the past 5 years Must obtain a forklift operator license within 1 year. Demonstrate knowledge of and willingness to act in accordance with safety policies and procedures and environmental guidelines. Ability to work safely with all chemicals, demonstrating the ability to read and comprehend labels and mix chemicals in the correct ratios. Knowledge and experience in industrial cleaning procedures. Knowledge of proper operating procedures and maintenance of all equipment, including but not limited to industrial cleaning and landscaping equipment. Willingness to work flexibly in terms of schedule, location and projects. Must be a self-starter, able to solve problems and work with minimal supervision. Ability to communicate in a polite and tactful manner. Demonstrate physical ability to perform the job, which may require working off a ladder/lift, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds or physical strength and endurance.
