WORK SCHEDULE: 100% FTE, M - F, no weekends OR holiday shifts allowing for work life balance in the beautiful northwest community Day Shift DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION: The Heart Institute at UW Medical Center Montlake provides a full range of heart healthcare and prevention services including general cardiology, cardiac diagnostic imaging tests and procedures, cardiac surgery, arrhythmia management and electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, structural heart services, advanced heart failure management, heart transplant and ventricular assist devices (VADs), adult congenital heart disease management, cardiac psychiatry, cardiovascular genetics and other advanced services. The Structural Heart Services nurse provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing complex cardiac evaluations, pre-operative preparation, and post-operative follow-up in an environment which facilitates professional nursing practice and growth. This role blends clinical expertise with patient education, care coordination, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal outcomes in an ambulatory setting. Our Structural heart nurses play a vital role in ensuring a safe, seamless, and compassionate care coordination for the patient from referral to follow-up post-procedure. POSITION HIGHLIGHTS: Join a nationally ranked cardiology program The RN will collaborate with our multi-disciplinary team consisting of cardiothoracic surgeons, cardiologists, interventionalists, electrophysiologists, other sub-specialty nurses, advanced practice providers, radiology team, research team, and administrative staff to coordinate, support, and optimize the medical care of our complex patient population. Located steps from UW campus and light rail station PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborate with interventional cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, advanced practice providers, and clinic staff to coordinate care for pre- and post-procedure cases Perform nursing assessments, triage incoming patient concerns, and respond to clinical inquiries Provide thorough patient education about procedures, post-op expectations, and recovery timelines Manage coordination of diagnostic testing, surgical planning, and follow-up appointments Serve as an advocate for patients navigating complex care pathways Support communication between patients, providers, and interdisciplinary teams Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical education opportunities REQUIREMENTS: Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Washington At least 2 years of inpatient or outpatient cardiology/telemetry experience Highly organized RN with exemplary communication and teaching skills and an ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment BLS & ACLS ABOUT UW MEDICAL CENTER-MONTLAKE UW Medical Center is an acute care academic medical center located in Seattle with two campuses: Montlake and Northwest.
