Job Title: Night Yard and Freight Compliance Clerk Department: Administration, Facilities & Secretarial Country: United States of America State/Province: California City: Commerce Full/Part Time: Full time Job Summary: Under routine supervision, this position is responsible for maintaining safety compliance, upholding site/yard management standards, as well as documenting and communicating vehicle traffic with Operations staff at assigned company facilities. The incumbent will monitor facility access, ensure compliance with CTPAT requirements, and oversee high value/high-risk asset staging procedures. The incumbent will develop and maintain professional relationships with internal and external partners to promote a secure supply chain and safe working environment. Job Description: Schedule: 6pm-6am Thursday - Saturday, and every other Wednesday Key Responsibilities: Conduct thorough container and trailer inspections using the 7-Point Container Inspection checklist to verify integrity of structures, doors, locks, and seals before loading or unloading Verify and document seal integrity on containers, trailers, and rail cars to ensure they match shipping documentation and comply with CTPAT requirements Monitor incoming and outgoing traffic, validating credentials and maintaining accurate logs of all vehicle and personnel movement throughout the facility; direct drivers to designated locations and reroute as needed Maintain facility standards through regularly verifying container/trailer safekeeping and removing debris that could impact safety functionalities (alarm-equipped fence line, driving paths, entrances/exits, etc.) Implement and oversee high value/high-risk asset staging protocols, including specialized monitoring, proper documentation of chain of custody, and additional measures as needed Report vulnerabilities in infrastructure safety to appropriate management, including, but not limited to fence integrity, lighting systems, and gate operations Implement procedural measures to protect against unmanifested materials entering the supply chain, including, but not limited to supervised cargo handling, proper marking, weighing, and documentation Ensure all access points are adhere to protocols and monitor for potential unauthorized entry; report abnormalities to appropriate management Collaborate with internal corporate safety/security teams to maintain facility compliance standards Maintain detailed records of all inspections, incidents, and compliance activities to support regulatory requirements Demonstrate a helpful, professional attitude when interacting with employees, visitors, vendors, and partners while effectively communicating company procedures Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED with up to 1 year of experience in transportation/logistics, supply chain, yard management or related field AND Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences: Ability to fulfill the physical requirements of the position (climb, maneuver in tight spaces, lift/move up to 45 lbs with dolly assistance) Ability to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a fast-paced environment Ability to manage competing priorities Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret information Ability to maintain professionalism while dealing with difficult individuals Knowledge of employee safety procedures and programs Ability to make independent time-sensitive decisions Demonstrated skill to operate with a sense of urgency Willingness to work night shifts and/or weekends Bilingual in English/Spanish, or other multilingual capability The expected starting pay range for this position is between $18.70 $23.35 per hour This position is not eligible for employment-based sponsorship. Compensation: Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Companys bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
