Department Laundry and Linen Job Summary Under close supervision, washes, dries presses and packs laundry for the hospital. Sorts linen and uniforms and determines whether each piece goes in the tumbler or ironer. Marks clean laundry as necessary for return to various hospital departments. Essential Functions: Sorts linen and uniforms and determines whether each piece goes into the tumbler or ironer. (20%) Folds garment or feeds through sheet folder and stores in appropriate storage area. (20%) Ensures each department receives the appropriate linens. (10%) Observes operation of machines and reports minor adjustments or malfunctioning to supervisor. (10%) Marks new linen and clothes as assigned. (10%) Promotes positive interpersonal (customer) relationships with fellow employees, physicians, patients and visitors. (10%) Treats these individuals with courtesy, dignity, empathy and respect; consistently displays courteous and respectful verbal and non-verbal communications. (10%) Ensures confidentiality of patient information by creating and maintaining a secure and trusting environment by not sharing information learned on the job, except when necessary in the performance of the job responsibilities or to improve a patients care.
