What you would do: Transport molten iron via forklift (of all sizes), wheeled containers, or by carrying from holding vessels to/from bar lines and melt deck. Sample molten iron for temperature and composition within tolerances. Support team with tapping, slagging, and chipping operations. Maintain production schedules and communicate effectively. Add various alloys to molten iron per work order instructions. Clean molten iron from used ladles. Communicate progress to other shifts verbally or in writing. Manage time to deliver molten iron to bar lines and melt deck at appropriate intervals. Recognize abnormalities with molten iron and equipment and report findings to Lead and/or Maintenance team members. Work effectively in teams within and outside the department.. Physical aspects of the role: Frequent foot use, lifting up to 20 lbs, hand use, sitting, and standing. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs, pushing/pulling, reaching, complex neck/spinal motion, and walking. Minimal carrying, climbing, lifting up to 70 lbs, and below waist level work. What you bring: High School Diploma or GED equivalent (GEDWorks program eligible). Ability to read and understand instructions. Ability to perform basic math. Ability to read thermometers and record data. Nice to have's: Manufacturing experience in an industrial setting. Forklift operation experience. Charter Casting is formerly Charter Dura-Bar The entry hourly rate for this position is $24.25 per hour. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will depend on various factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, and qualifications. Compensation decisions are tailored to the unique circumstances of each position and candidate.
